The Swiss precision is well known in the watch-making industry. A lot of famous companies that manufacture timepieces follow the strict rules and standards of Swiss watch industry. Among them there is Bvlgari.

The well-known brand, Bulgari, often spelled “Bvlgari”, has its roots in the 19th century. The name Bulgari comes from a Greek family. The founder of the brand, Sotirio Bulgari was originally from Greece but he immigrated to Italy and in 1884 opened his company. The foundation took place in Rome where even today there can be seen the flagship store of the brand. The latter was opened in the beginning of the 20th century with the help of the two sons of Sotirio by the names of Constantino and Giorgio.

The Bulgari store in Roma was visited by a lot of wealthy and famous people. They were attracted by the exclusive and beautiful designs of the family`s qualitative jewelry. Despite the fact that the company was well known only for its jewelry, nowadays it is famous for the marvelous collections of handbags, fragrances, accessories, hotels and of course timepieces.

Having about 150 stores worldwide the first international locations, however were opened in New York, Paris, Geneva and Monte Carlo. These wonderful cities house the stores of Bvlgari since 1970s. The grandsons of the founder, Paolo and Nicola Bulgari became the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the company respectively in 1984. Bvlgari CEO was named Francesco Trapani, who was the founder`s nephew. Thus the family business continued.

The first watch was created by the company in 1977. The first model proved to be best-selling and it is considered classic today. The name of it is Bvlgari-Bvlgari. To enlarge the production of watches Bvlgari built up their production facility in Switzerland and started creating some of the finest timepieces on the watch market. The watch factory was built during the 1980s.

At the end of the 20th century the company launched several new and marvelous models with a classic design and enriched by various precious stones. Among the most successful watches of the company in 1995 were: Trika and Celtica. The latter was enriched by several stones of various colors that had a cabochon cut.

The fame of Bvlgari timepieces was achieved thanks to the mix of qualitative jewelry with classically designed and technically advanced timepieces. With a rich tradition in the field of jewelry it was quite easy for the company to find its niche in the field of luxury wristwatches. Every Bvlgari wristwatch is made by hand. Some of the most skilled watchmakers use the latest technical equipment in order to create perfect watches that meet the strict standards of Swiss watchmaking.

In order to know where we are going we need to remember where we come from. Apparently, creating a watch collection in tribute to Sotirio Bulgari, who founded the firm in Rome 126 years ago, Bvlgari  watch was guided by these very considerations.

To celebrate its 125th anniversary, the Italian company introduced a new timepiece – the Bvlgari Sotirio Retrograde. As its name suggests, the watch was named after the brand’s Greek founder. The designers of the company chose a classic round case for the watch – you can never go wrong with a round case. However, the case is not as simple as it seems at first sight. It is constructed in a unique way, with lugs on the case back in order to provide greater shock resistance. Brushed and glossy, polished surfaces are alternated for aesthetic effect. It is in the smallest details that craftsmanship reveals itself – the crown of the Bvlgari Sotirio Retrograde is monogrammed.

The dial of this slim, elegant watch is also unique. It is decorated with the sunburst pattern, representing the rays of the sunset. The hand-applied Roman numerals, indexes, as well as skeletonized hour and minute hands are faceted. The dial of the timepiece features an in-house 150° retrograde date indicator at 6 o’clock.

The technical of the watch is as interesting as its design. The Bvlgari Sotirio Retrograde is powered by a self-winding manufacture movement, the caliber BVL250. The heart of the watch is assembled entirely by hand and requires 165 operations to be produced. The construction passes quality inspection at each stage, as each component of the movement is added.

The illustrious watchmaker Bulgari is proud to announce its Diagono Calibre 303 chronograph watch, which represents a successful combination of extreme aesthetic and technical refinement.

The name of the Bulgari watch stems from the ancient Greek word “agon”. When translated into English, it sounds like “athletic contest”, referring to Myron’s Discobolus, which happens to be a source of inspiration for the model’s simple, dynamic and modern style.

Since its original appearance 20 years ago, the Diagono collection has successfully gone through time and conquered its place at the pinnacle of timelessness. The line’s continuous development does not undermine its exquisite classical characteristics, which include a sophisticated architecture.

The Bulgari Diagono Calibre 303 watch is animated by an automatic mechanical movement – the caliber BVL 303, entirely hand-crafted in the brand’s workshops. To engineer this movement, which incorporates 303 individual parts, the company’s specialists have invested 3,520 hours of painstaking efforts.

The movement’s integrated construction with a column wheel and a pinion with a vertical clutch is bound to fascinate true connoisseurs. This smart system keeps the chronograph seconds hand away from skipping when it starts, stops or is reset, thus offering a remarkably precise distribution of the chronographic functions. The chronograph buttons are channeled for most comfortable grip.

The mechanism ensures an easy way of measuring short time periods by virtue of three graduated 12-hour, 30-minute and 60-second sub-dials. They are kept company by a date aperture, located at 6 o’clock.

The sapphire crystal case-back shows off the enchanting details of the movement, including such decorative elements as graceful Cotes de Geneve, perlage and satine soleil finishes. The movement features a balance wheel making 21,600 alternations per hour. Studded with 37 jewels, the movement boasts a 40-hour power reserve.

All technical treasures of the new Bulgari watch are housed in a 42 mm case, manufactured from 75 elements and sculptured in brushed steel. Its thickness is 12.95 mm. The case is fitted with a polished 18K white gold bezel, embossed with the Bulgari logo. The masculine external ring, with a unique protection of the crown, houses the pins for an elegant strap. The water-resistance of the watch is down to 100 meters.

The case of the Diagono Calibre 303 chronograph embraces a three-level dial, embellished with a vertical and satine soleil finish. It is completed with hand-applied faceted indexes and flange. Indicating hours, minutes and seconds are faceted hands, treated with Superluminova C1 coating.

The extraordinary Bulgari Diagono Calibre 303 chronograph watch is mounted on a blue alligator leather strap, equipped with a three-prong stainless steel folding buckle and the safety system.

The heart of the watch is the movement. Apparently, Bvlgari tried to emphasize this by naming the watch after the movement that beats inside its case – the Bvlgari Diagono Calibro 303. The movement of the timepiece has a particularly important function. Thanks to its small size, the Bvlgari Diagono Calibro 303 is the world’s thinnest self-winding watch.

Just 5.5 mm thick and 42mm wide, the round case of the timepiece is made from stainless steel. At first sight, it seems that the bezel of the Bvlgari Diagono Calibro 303 is also crafted from this material, but, after looking at it attentively, it becomes clear that it is made from white gold. The bezel has the distinctive “Bvlgari” signature engraved across it.

The inside of the case contains the Calibro 303, composed of 303 elements and set with 37 jewels. The movement of the watch is aesthetically pleasing as well as functional – it provides a power reserve of 45 hours and beats 21,600 times per hour, ensuring an immaculate performance of the timepiece. As usual, the movement can be admired through a transparent case back.

But what is truly worth admiring is the dial of the Bvlgari Diagono Calibro 303. It has a three-layer structure with various kinds of finishing. The first layer is a metal base decorated with a sunburst pattern. Then comes the anthracite layer with vertical treatment, and the upper layer is represented by three sub-dials and faceted hand-applied markers.

The hands of the watch, as well as the hour and minute counters at 3 and 9 o’clock are rose-gold toned, while the seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock comes in different colors, depending on the color pattern of the dial.

The Bvlgari Diagono Chronograph watch is a finely crafted timepiece that deftly combines sport and elegance. The classical round cases, enriched with a fine brushed finish, the iconic “Bvlgari-Bvlgari” bezel, and the finely executed straps and bracelets all join to produce a timepiece which is equally at home in formal or casual settings.

Each Bvlgari Diagono Chronograph watch is animated by an excellent Swiss selfwinding movement, which features a chronograph complication with both a 30-minute and a 12-hour totalizer, as well as a rapidly adjustable date display.
