Earlier this month the renowned Swiss watch making brand Longines hosted a launch cocktail party in the Mira Hotel, Hong Kong to celebrate the arrival of its latest collection – Longines PrimaLuna.

The theme of the evening was “One Thousand and One Nights”, reflected by the exotic dance performances, tarot card readings, Indian Henna tattoos and the Aladdin figures who escorted guests into the venue, 

Centre-stage of the evening was the PrimaLuna collection itself which is dedicated to women and was inspired by a silvery moon. They are available in various interpretations of stainless steel, rose or yellow gold, as well as a combination of rose gold and steel.

In 1927, the American aviator Charles Lindbergh earned international fame, having performed a non-stop solo flight across the North Atlantic in his Spirit of St. Louis. In 1933, accompanied by his wife, Anne Morrow Lindbergh, he undertook a trip of 47,000 km around the North Atlantic.

A powerful aircraft, endowed with a 710 hp engine and a variable propeller, took the young couple to New Foundland, Greenland, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Portugal, the Azores, the Canary Islands and Cape Verde before returning to the USA via the Gambia, Brazil and Cuba. The purpose of this expedition was to discover future air routes across the far north.

The renewed watch features a case, crafted in either steel or rose gold, measuring 47.50 mm in diameter. Assembled with a sapphire crystal, the case embraces a silvered dial. The dial is equipped with blued steel hands. The dial is also completed with a small seconds counter, located at 9 o’clock and a 30-minute sub-dial, nestled at 3 o’clock. The case-back of the watch is fitted with a see-through cover, which reveals the enchanting details of the movement.

The Longines Lindbergh’s watch is powered by an automatic mechanical movement – L705 (ETA A07 231), embellished with 27 jewels. It features a balance wheel, moving back and forth at the rate of 28,000 vibrations per hour.

The movement provides a 46-hour power reserve. Along with the functions of hours, minutes and small seconds, the reissued chronograph incorporates a function of tachymeter, which measures speeds up to 500 kph.

The Longines Lindbergh’s Atlantic Voyage Watch, is secured to the wearer’s wrist with a genuine brown alligator strap, fitted with a buckle.

The Weems Second-Setting watch from Longines strikes the eye with its breathtaking case, rendered in polished 18K pink gold. The illustrious watchmaker has devoted this model to the American captain Philip van Horn Weems.

This outstanding personality has earned his fame by virtue of his brilliant invention: a timekeeper, capable of complementing the plane’s on-board chronometers with a special mechanism for synchronizing watches to the closest second with help of a radio time signal with no need to move the hands.

The Weems Second-Setting watch incorporates the following functions: hours, minutes and seconds. Animating them is a self-winding movement – L699 / ETA A07 111 calibre, set with 24 rubies. The Longines watch is available with an impressive case, which measures 47.50 mm in diameter. The front side of the case is protected by a sapphire crystal. The case back is fitted with an engraved, individually-numbered cover, which opens onto a sapphire crystal.

Performed in lacquered white, the timepiece face reveals a silvered opaline mobile central dial. Blued steel hands are traveling over large Arabic numerals.
