Luxury watch manufacturer Tag Heuer’s redesign of its classic Silverstone Chronograph model is “a faithful reproduction of the vintage original” made in 1974, according to designer goods .

Tag Heuer recently announced the iconic piece would be released again as part of its 150th anniversary celebrations, albeit as a limited edition, 35 years after it transformed the Tag Heuer watch industry.

Based on the Silverstone racing circuit in Northamptonshire, the timepiece features chronograph hour and minute counters and a perforated leather strap based on the gloves worn by Formula 1 drivers.

Dial options on the model come in a “pleasing” dark blue or brown which “successfully recall” the design of the 1974 Tag Heuer watch, says the website.

Indeed, the only notable difference between the historic and modern-day versions is the layout of some of the counters.

For example, on the 2009 design the chronograph minute display is on the left and a continuous second subdial on the right.

Tag Heuer’s states that it is the only in the world to offer wrist watches which are accurate to one-tenth, one-hundredth and one-thousandth of a second.
