Earlier this month the renowned Swiss watch making brand Longines hosted a launch cocktail party in the Mira Hotel, Hong Kong to celebrate the arrival of its latest collection – Longines PrimaLuna.

The theme of the evening was “One Thousand and One Nights”, reflected by the exotic dance performances, tarot card readings, Indian Henna tattoos and the Aladdin figures who escorted guests into the venue, 

Centre-stage of the evening was the PrimaLuna collection itself which is dedicated to women and was inspired by a silvery moon. They are available in various interpretations of stainless steel, rose or yellow gold, as well as a combination of rose gold and steel.

Longines International Ambassadress of Elegance, Ms Lin Chi Ling was guest of honour for the unveiling ceremony and appeared alongside Ms. Karen Au Yeung, Vice President of Longines as well as other models showcasing the Longines PrimaLuna Collection.

The horological company Linde Werdelin has established a strong foothold in the watch market by manufacturing its high-precision sports timepieces and clip-on instruments. Now, the brand’s Oktopus family heartily welcomes a new member, named Oktopus Moonphase complication.

A clever blend of unequalled mastery and appealing design, the new Linde Werdelin watch is equipped with a Frederic Piguet calibre 1150 movement and a moon-phase complication, developed and produced by Danish-born Svend Andersen. Superb as it is, the sophisticated watch proudly presents a highly realistic replication of the moon phases, attainable by virtue of luminous discs, as well as provides a countdown to the next half or full moon.

The novel Oktopus Moonphase boasts a time-tested exterior, reinterpreted, however, in a modern way. The watch’s undeniable highlight is definitely its original display of seven phases of the moon from new to half and full. Entirely manufactured from SuperLuminova, which intensifies the moon-phase effect, the discs are located along 4 and 8 o’clock to ensure maximum night-time readability of the dial.

The moon-phase complication is built on the date function of the Piguet movement, showing a countdown to the next full moon. According to Morten Linde, a creative director and co-founder of the Linde Werdelin, this innovation testifies to the brand’s progress in uncomplicated complexity.

In terms of case dimensions the novelty from Linde Werdelin is similar to other Oktopus watches, measuring 46mm x 49mm x 14mm, width, length and height indicated respectively. The watch case is outfitted with a rose gold unidirectional turning bezel with 10 minute markings, as well as a SuperLuminova-applied marker, positioned at 12 o’clock.

The bezel securely holds a 3.8mm anti-glare sapphire crystal. It serves to protect a black matt dial, completed with Arabic numerals and rose gold-finished applied indexes, coated with a SuperLuminova compound. Travelling over them are rose gold-plated, diamond cut rhodium-finished hands, also tipped with a coat of SuperLuminova.

The Oktopus Moonphase complication watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal case-back, which enables the watch owner to admire the artfully produced Frederic Piguet movement, incorporating a rotor embossed with the AG and LW logos. Studded with 28 jewels, the movement offers a 72- hour power reserve and runs at the rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour.

The new Linde Werdelin watch is 888-meter water-resistant, incorporating an automatic helium escape valve found at 9 o’clock. Due to this very valve, the watch is capable of withstanding pressure during the resurface time. The timepiece is accompanied by a black alligator strap, finished with a titanium ardillon buckle.

As Jorn Werdelin, the brand’s managing director and its co-founder, has pointed out, the release of the first complication announces a new chapter in Linde Werdelin’s history. He has also mentioned that the company is honored to further cooperate with Svend Andersen. Besides, it is pleased to start animating its watches by F. Piguet movements.

According to Morten, one of the reasons for endowing the diver’s watch with a moonphase complication was their customers’ desire to practice sports under the full moon. The moonlight provides excellent conditions for various sports activity, including diving.

Issued in a limited edition of just 29 items, the Linde Werdelin Oktopus Moonphase watch will be offered to pre-order from September 2010 or from any LW authorized retailer. The watch is to be presented at BaselWorld 2010.

The new Eberhard & Co watch has been issued in a limited edition of 123 items.

The heart of the Tazio Nuvolari Edition Limitee Grand Prix en Or watch is represented by a self-winding ETA Valjoux 7750 movement. Its functionality includes hours, minutes and the chronograph function.

 The mechanism is housed in a 43 mm case, rendered in 18Kred gold. The black ceramic bezel features a tachometer scale in miles/h engraved in red. The dial is shielded by a sapphire crystal, with internal anti-reflective treatment. The case exhibits a screw-down back with the central part engraved with the autograph of the driver, and the outer part bevelled with circular-grained finishing. The water-resistance of the case is down to 30 meters.

The timepiece boasts an attractive dial, featuring luminous Arabic numerals and luminous hands for perfect legibility. They are kept company by a central red direct-drive seconds hand. The dial is also completed with chronograph hour and minute sub-dials, positioned at 6 and 12 o’clock correspondingly.

The Panerai OP x Calibre equipping this timepiece guarantees a power reserve of 56 hours, along with 100 meters water resistance. The case is constructed as to offer the best protection of the movement and so the designers have chosen to use a shock absorption system for this watch, and have also chosen the thickest sapphire crystal to cover both the dial and the case back, 1.9 mm thick.

        This Radomir PAM 00210 Watch by Officine Panerai is included in the ”Historic” Collection and celebrates the watches manufactures in 1997, under the name of Radomir, a Collection measuring only 60 timepieces.
