The horological company Linde Werdelin has established a strong foothold in the watch market by manufacturing its high-precision sports timepieces and clip-on instruments. Now, the brand’s Oktopus family heartily welcomes a new member, named Oktopus Moonphase complication.

A clever blend of unequalled mastery and appealing design, the new Linde Werdelin watch is equipped with a Frederic Piguet calibre 1150 movement and a moon-phase complication, developed and produced by Danish-born Svend Andersen. Superb as it is, the sophisticated watch proudly presents a highly realistic replication of the moon phases, attainable by virtue of luminous discs, as well as provides a countdown to the next half or full moon.

The novel Oktopus Moonphase boasts a time-tested exterior, reinterpreted, however, in a modern way. The watch’s undeniable highlight is definitely its original display of seven phases of the moon from new to half and full. Entirely manufactured from SuperLuminova, which intensifies the moon-phase effect, the discs are located along 4 and 8 o’clock to ensure maximum night-time readability of the dial.

The moon-phase complication is built on the date function of the Piguet movement, showing a countdown to the next full moon. According to Morten Linde, a creative director and co-founder of the Linde Werdelin, this innovation testifies to the brand’s progress in uncomplicated complexity.

In terms of case dimensions the novelty from Linde Werdelin is similar to other Oktopus watches, measuring 46mm x 49mm x 14mm, width, length and height indicated respectively. The watch case is outfitted with a rose gold unidirectional turning bezel with 10 minute markings, as well as a SuperLuminova-applied marker, positioned at 12 o’clock.

The bezel securely holds a 3.8mm anti-glare sapphire crystal. It serves to protect a black matt dial, completed with Arabic numerals and rose gold-finished applied indexes, coated with a SuperLuminova compound. Travelling over them are rose gold-plated, diamond cut rhodium-finished hands, also tipped with a coat of SuperLuminova.

The Oktopus Moonphase complication watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal case-back, which enables the watch owner to admire the artfully produced Frederic Piguet movement, incorporating a rotor embossed with the AG and LW logos. Studded with 28 jewels, the movement offers a 72- hour power reserve and runs at the rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour.

The new Linde Werdelin watch is 888-meter water-resistant, incorporating an automatic helium escape valve found at 9 o’clock. Due to this very valve, the watch is capable of withstanding pressure during the resurface time. The timepiece is accompanied by a black alligator strap, finished with a titanium ardillon buckle.

As Jorn Werdelin, the brand’s managing director and its co-founder, has pointed out, the release of the first complication announces a new chapter in Linde Werdelin’s history. He has also mentioned that the company is honored to further cooperate with Svend Andersen. Besides, it is pleased to start animating its watches by F. Piguet movements.

According to Morten, one of the reasons for endowing the diver’s watch with a moonphase complication was their customers’ desire to practice sports under the full moon. The moonlight provides excellent conditions for various sports activity, including diving.

Issued in a limited edition of just 29 items, the Linde Werdelin Oktopus Moonphase watch will be offered to pre-order from September 2010 or from any LW authorized retailer. The watch is to be presented at BaselWorld 2010.

With its remarkable watches and attachable instruments, Linde Werdelin has shattered the existing limits of the luxury sport’s watches’ world, combining exemplary Swiss watchmaking excellence and progressive Danish design, teamed with avant-garde technology.

Rolex has become to be synonymous to elegance and exquisite design, being labeled as a luxury brand of watches with an impressive tradition in the world of watch manufacturing. Established 105 years ago, Rolex still maintains high its standards of watch manufacturing, the timepieces created being regarded as statements of technical performance and sophisticated design. Owning a Rolex gives you confidence and definitely assures your social status in whatever gathering you may find yourself in, as this is not just a watch making brand, but a chapter in the history and long lasting tradition of watch manufacturing.

Rolex has introduced years ago a successful collection bearing the name of Rolex Datejust, and ever since 1945, the start model of that collection was redesigned and reequipped into becoming what we refer to today as the new Rolex Datejust Royal Black Watch. This new version embraces a refined look, given the fact that it uses diamond adornments to recreate a brilliant and classy appearance.

The new Rolex Datejust Royal Black Watch features a 36 mm in diameter case made of 18 k white gold. The size of the case was chosen to fit a feminine design, especially made for those sophisticated women that like wearing on their wrists combinations between watches and elegant accessories of jewelry. As for a woman fashion and trends are everything, it was normal that Rolex would approach an extremely modern design, recurring to diamond or black sapphires. The design was thought as to cover various tastes, and so there are two versions of the new Rolex Datejust Royal Black Watch: one featuring 60 diamonds on the bezel contrasting a black and diamonds paved dial, while the other featuring 60 black sapphires on its bezel. These two versions are available on a black rubber leather strap and gluchant strap, adorned with precious stones.

Even though the designers from Rolex have aimed at recreating the fanciest design possible, one of the strong points of this nicely looking Rolex Datejust Royal Black Watch is represented by its technical performance. The mechanism equipping this watch was C.O.S.C certified and goes by the name of Rolex 3135 Calibre, being a self-winding movement able to offer 50 hours of power reserve, along with 100 meters water resistance. Apart from the traditional functions of hour, minute and second, this watch also provides a date window located at 3 o’clock. Although no technical aspects were neglected in the manufacturing of this watch, I’m sure that many women would find its 100 meters water resistance function almost irrelevant, as no lady would put this exquisite timepiece in the water.

Regardless your chosen version, either the one featuring diamonds or the one with black sapphires, I can assure you that Rolex Datejust Royal Black Watch doesn’t come cheap at all.

Bvlgari Sotirio RetrogradeIn order to know where we are going we need to remember where we come from. Apparently, creating a watch collection in tribute to Sotirio Bulgari, who founded the firm in Rome 126 years ago, Bvlgari  watch was guided by these very considerations.

To celebrate its 125th anniversary, the Italian company introduced a new timepiece – the Bvlgari Sotirio Retrograde. As its name suggests, the watch was named after the brand’s Greek founder. The designers of the company chose a classic round case for the watch – you can never go wrong with a round case. However, the case is not as simple as it seems at first sight. It is constructed in a unique way, with lugs on the case back in order to provide greater shock resistance. Brushed and glossy, polished surfaces are alternated for aesthetic effect. It is in the smallest details that craftsmanship reveals itself – the crown of the Bvlgari Sotirio Retrograde is monogrammed.

The dial of this slim, elegant watch is also unique. It is decorated with the sunburst pattern, representing the rays of the sunset. The hand-applied Roman numerals, indexes, as well as skeletonized hour and minute hands are faceted. The dial of the timepiece features an in-house 150° retrograde date indicator at 6 o’clock.

The technical of the watch is as interesting as its design. The Bvlgari Sotirio Retrograde is powered by a self-winding manufacture movement, the caliber BVL250. The heart of the watch is assembled entirely by hand and requires 165 operations to be produced. The construction passes quality inspection at each stage, as each component of the movement is added.

The Omega freshly-redesigned Constellation collection welcomes a new star – the Constellation Baguette.

The unique and luxurious Omega Constellation Baguette watch produces a powerful impression – the dial of the lady’s watch displays a one-of-a-kind supernova structure emanating from the diamond Constellation star presented on a mother-of-pearl background at 6 o’clock. The dazzling watch sparkles with 459 Top Wesselton diamonds, with a total weight of about 30 carats.

The dial boasts 146 baguette and trapeze diamonds that are set using a sophisticated “invisible” mounting technique, implying you will see no trace of the 18K white gold used for the watch’s case between the diamonds.

The Omega Constellation Baguette watch is not simply a breathtaking diamond timepiece for ladies – it accommodates the OMEGA Calibre 8421, a Co-Axial escapement automatic movement. The groundbreaking technology of the brand was initially appeared in 1999, having greatly improved the way fine mechanical timepieces are created.

The movement incorporates the Co-Axial escapement reducing the amount of sliding friction in the watch, thus eliminating the need for lubrication and giving an advantage of longer service intervals and improved timekeeping precision. The Si 14 silicon balance spring strengthens shock-resistance, as well as resistance to the effects of outside disturbances.

The Omega master jewelers have cut every one of the watch’s 459 diamonds specifically for the timepiece, so every stone is unique and, if necessary, the replacement process will require much time. Any new gem will have to be custom-prepared to match the color, clarity, cut and carat size of the diamonds it is surrounded by.

The Omega Constellation Baguette watch,  is the most elegant and precious members of the Constellation collection, representing a fine union of refined design and superior watchmaking.

The case of the new Milestone 1941 matches that of the initial model, with the same size of 38 mm in diameter, only the material employed differs. The case is crafted from 18 carats white gold, a material appropriate for a collectible item. This elegant case matches perfectly the simple black leather strap which is folded with a clasp made of white gold as well.

Pre-SIHH 2010: Panerai Radiomir PAM336 Watch With In-House P.999 Movement
A 42mm Panerai Radiomir watch? Who would have thought? And yet, in times where restraint has begun to make its ascendancy, Officine Panerai brings forth the first images of a timepiece which subtly alters the full-figured landscape of the brand’s historic Radiomir collection. Notably smaller than previous Radiomir watches, the Panerai PAM336 showcases a 42mm case hewn from 18-karat pink gold. This luxurious cushion-shaped form is given a subtle brushed finish which emphasizes the sporty heritage of the model. At the same time, however, the quality of the finishing work and the elegant contrast against the polished bezel will allow this exclusive high-luxury timepiece to serve its owner well when a dressier mode is called for.

Familiar to Paneristi and other lovers of Panerai watches is the distinctive “sandwich” dial, which in this model presents a rich brown color. So named for its tripartite structure, these Panerai dials are composed of two metal layers, between which is a section of luminous material. This material appears clearly and elegantly through numeric cutouts in the upper dial strata; twelve, three, and six o’clock are marked by Arabic numbers, with the other hours being carried out in an elongated index format. The sword-shaped hour and minute hands and the dagger hand for the small seconds are also decorated with luminous material. All of these elements combine to make for a cleanly executed face that is as handsome and classic as it is easy to read in low or nonexistent lighting.

Sure to excite connoisseurs of haute horlogerie, the Panerai Radiomir PAM 336 will house an entirely new manufacture Panerai movement. Designated as the Panerai P.999, this manually wound caliber features Incabloc shock protection and comprises 154 parts and 19 jewels. With a low height of 3.4mm, and a diameter of 12 lignes, the P.999 presents a smaller overall package than that of previous Panerai movements–a specification that ideally suits it to timepieces of smaller diameter and lesser thickness than Panerai has generally been known for. Despite having a single mainspring barrel, power reserve of the P.999 is a comparatively lengthy 60 hours. A sapphire crystal exhibition window in the caseback reveals the decorative elements and mechanical structures of this new Panerai caliber, including an elegant swan neck fine adjustment spring and a screw-adjusted balance beating at the moderate tempo of 21,600 vibrations per hour.

The Panerai Radiomir PAM336 watch with the P.999 manufacture movement will be produced in a numbered edition of 500 pieces. Joined to the Radiomir’s elegant wire case lugs is a strap of hand-sewn alligator leather and a prong buckle in polished pink gold. The conical gold winding crown bears the Officine Panerai insignia; it screws down precisely to ensure that the watch remains water resistant to 100 meters.

The dial is also adorned with Roman numerals to indicate the hours, while for the minutes; the designers have chosen to use Arabic numerals from 5 to 5.
