A "luggage tag" is a tag placed on bags and suitcases to identify the owner of the luggage and to serve as evidence of the passenger's checked bag. The tag typically contains identification details like names, numbers, and letters. These tags are primarily used in airport and railway settings to help ensure the safe and timely delivery of luggage to their owners. Luggage tags are also known by various names such as address tags, registration cards, information tags, and billboard tags.
China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, and other airlines introduced the "electronic luggage tag" service in September 2019 with the opening of Beijing Daxing International Airport.
