1. Quality and health issues

Using tablecloths is the safest option when it comes to protecting your table. They are considered safer than PVC or TPU table mats. However, when purchasing PVC table mats online, it becomes difficult to determine their quality and the specific materials used in their production. There is always a risk of bad PVC materials being mixed in, potentially causing health issues. For instance, PVC often contains plasticizers and phthalates, which can be harmful, especially for children who are still growing. Therefore, it is crucial to be cautious and opt for safer alternatives to ensure the well-being of our loved ones.

2. Cost difference problem

TPU is considerably more expensive than PVC, as seen in the price difference between TPU 135 with a 2MM diameter, costing 400 units, compared to PVC which is only around 100 units, or even just a few yuan. Although we cannot directly confirm the quality and safety of the internal materials used in certain products, the price comparison alone suggests a notable disparity between the two. In terms of appearance, I have personal experience with using PVC table mats. On the other hand, TPU mats are less likely to deform and offer a relatively soft texture, while also providing good light transmission. When making a choice, it is crucial to select a reputable store that offers better quality products, as some stores may falsely claim to sell odorless PVC mats disguised as TPU mats.

4. How much thickness to choose

When looking for table mats made of TPU material online, you'll find that most are between 1.2 to 2mm thick. However, there are some that can go up to 3mm in thickness, but they do come at a higher price. Consider the function of heat insulation when choosing the thickness of your table mat. For dining tables, it's recommended to go for either 2 or 3mm, while a 2mm mat will suffice for coffee tables. Remember, the thicker the mat, the more expensive it will be.
